I’m Amrita and I recently gave GMAT. I scored 670 with Q44(52%ile) and V37. I’m applying to MiM course and have no Quant background. Do you think I still have a chance to get in? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Since I don’t know why you are choosing MiM rather than MBA, it’s hard to give you good advice here so what follows is a bit general, but specific about your score.
MiM programs are typically younger and without work experience which means they can veer toward the research and theoretical side of management studies. The MiM is NOT a substitute or shortcut for the MBA. They are very different degrees. While they may study similar things (in some cases), they study those things in different ways.
That said, because the MiM can lean more theory, a non-quant background with a not-so-good gmat quant score makes me think you are not a great candidate yet. A good MiM program will have a heavy stats stack. At the very least you should already be very conversant on measuring data and running models.
If your hope is to use the MiM as a replacement for the MBA, I think you’ll find employers won’t know what to do with you. If you manage to get hired, you are likely not on the MBA track. Which is fine as long as you know what your purpose for choosing MiM is.
Make sure you’re focusing your energies on the degree that will help you the most, not just the degree that seems easiest and cheapest to get.
