If your field of expertise will be mediating financial cases, an accounting degree could come in handy but is not necessary to begin work as an arbitration specialist. Requirements vary by company, however, most either require or prefer a bachelor’s degree that includes an emphasis in psychology, law and/or government. Customer service, active listening and possessing deductive reasoning skills are also helpful attributes.
