Deferred enrollment is reserved for current academic students – grad (with no break between undergrad and grad) or undergrad – to get 1-3 years of work experience before enrolling. You must state the year you will come back to school for the MBA.

Direct enrollment means you are applying for the next starting MBA class.

It is almost as rare as a unicorn with rainbows streaming out its tail to get deferred enrollment. It’s hard enough to get direct enrollment at gsb. Certain direct enrollment candidates will be offered deferred enrollment rather than direct if the admission committee sees the need for work experience.
