A career as a mechanical engineer is highly investigative and requires complex problem solving. Mechanical engineers must be critical thinkers with great judgement. Mathematics, of course, is a large part of being an engineer, as is science. Other skills needed include reading comprehension, operations analysis, and systems evaluation.
