Auditing is just one of the many paths that a CPA can take out of school in the world of Public Accounting. Get into a public accounting firm, and state that you want to go into audit rather than tax or advisory. Most school programs have concentrations that accounting students can participate in which give a broader experience with audit rather than just the basics required to graduate. Get an Audit Internship!!!!

Agreed with Amgee.

As as an experienced hire, network with your peers for a resume referral.
As a new graduate or undergrad, attend recruiting functions hosted at your school (as applicable)
